To make a nutritious smoothie, you should use the freshest, best quality produce you can get your hands on- even better if it’s organic! Be sure to carefully wash all the ingredients before adding them to the blender.
These smoothies are meant to be made in a high-powered blender. If you don’t have one, a high-powered food processor should do the trick- it will make a thicker, pulpier smoothie but it’s still delicious and just as nutritious!
# 1 Gorgeous greens smoothie
Ingredients (makes 1)
1 cup baby spinach
juice 1 yellow grapefruit
1 stick celery, finely chopped
1 pear, flesh grated
1/2 tsp grated young ginger
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
150 ml cold water
ice, to serve (optional)
Method
Combine ingredients in a high powered blender and pulse until very smooth, scraping down the sides once during this process. Serve over ice if desired.
# 2 Blueberry green smoothie
Ingredients (makes 1)
1 cup baby spinach
1 cup coconut water
1 frozen peeled banana, roughly chopped
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1 tsp black chia seeds
1 tsp maca powder
1 tsp Manuka honey (optional)
1/2 tsp cinnamon
ice, to serve (optional)
Method
Combine ingredients in a high powered blender and pulse until very smooth, scraping down the sides once during the process. Serve over ice if desired.
